Libertylang is an app for learning German: a dictionary, grammar topics and lessons, trainings, a pronunciation check and a conversation partner that runs on your phone. It is free to use.
By installing or using the app you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
The words, examples, explanations and exercises were put together with care, but they can contain mistakes and simplifications. The app is a study aid, not a certified course, and it does not guarantee any exam result.
Content can change, be corrected or removed between versions.
Some features use speech, translation and language models that are downloaded to your device. They are experimental: they can mishear you, mistranslate, invent facts or give wrong grammar advice. Treat their answers as a hint, not as a reference.
Downloaded models take up storage and may run slowly on older phones. They are removed together with the app.
Libertylang does not require an account. Your name, settings, progress and the words, phrases and topics you add stay on your device.
The microphone is used only while the pronunciation check or the conversation is listening; the audio is processed on the device and is not stored or uploaded.
Anonymous usage statistics and crash reports are sent to Firebase only with your consent: the switch on the welcome screen or the switch at the end of this page. They contain no names, typed text or your own words.
When you look a word up online, the searched word is sent to verbformen.de. Nothing else you type leaves the phone.
Part of the dictionary data comes from Netzverb (verbformen.de) and is used under the CC BY-SA 4.0 licence. Speech, voice and language models keep the licences of their authors.
The open-source components of the app and their licences are listed on the licences page below. Trademarks belong to their owners.
The app and its content are for your personal, non-commercial learning. Please do not copy, resell or republish the content or the downloaded models, and do not try to break the app or its protections beyond what the law allows.
The app is provided as it is, without any warranty of availability, accuracy or fitness for a particular purpose. Features can be changed or discontinued at any time.
To the extent permitted by law, the developer is not liable for indirect or consequential damage arising from the use of the app. Nothing in these terms limits the rights you have as a consumer under the law of your country.
These terms can be updated; the date at the top shows the current version. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated terms.
